The Black River Digital New Zealand Comics Awards, the “Erics”, as they are nick-named (for Eric Resetar, an early pioneer of NZ comics), are up and running again in 2006.
The Erics are designed to showcase and reward New Zealand’s unsung Independant Comic Artists. A short list in each category (eg: Best Comic, Best Anthology…) is selected by the Black River Digital webgroup (an e-hangout for many of NZ’s comiceratti), and is then passed on to a panel of carefully chosen judges.
This year the Erics are being held at the Aro Valley Community Hall in Wellington, on the 29th of April, as part of the New Zealand Comics Weekend, the independant NZ Comics festival, and are shaping up to be a fun filled event. Anyone interested is is welcome to come and join the fun of the awards and weekend – there will be entertainment, food and drinks. And of course, comics!
